Undergraduate & Graduate Opportunities for Afghan Nationals in Pakistan

The Government of Pakistan and several private educational institutes offer undergraduate and graduate scholarships to Afghan students in various fields in Pakistan. Afghan Studies Center (ASC) maintains a database of all such academic opportunities to facilitate Afghan students. Interested students may browse through the following for more details.

1. Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme for Afghan National Students

The Government of Pakistan is offering Bachelors (4/5 years program), MS/MPhil and PhD level scholarships under the Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme for Afghan National Students for the year 2017-2018. The students who want to apply for the scholarship must fulfill following eligibility criteria:

All interested students are advised to register themselves by filling the registration form and send the same through email to pakistanscholarships2017@gmail.com by May 10, 2017. Only those candidates who have registered will be considered for the test to be held at Pakistani Embassy/Consulate.

Date for the test would be announced on Embassy’s website (www.pakembassykabul.com) after the registration process is complete.

2. Fully Funded Afghanistan Scholarship Programme (ASP) at Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) 

Afghanistan Scholarship Programme (ASP) is an exclusive scholarship for talented Afghan students to study at LUMS in its undergraduate and graduate programmes. The ASP scholarships will only be offered to Afghan students, who are admitted on purely merit basis. This initiative is the result of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on February 2015 between Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to establish “Afghanistan Scholarship Programme (ASP)”, which was announced by H.E. President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani during his first visit to Pakistan.

3. Pakistan-Afghanistan Graduate Association (PAGA)

The PAGA, Pak-Afghan Graduate Association is non-political organization that was inaugurated by H.E. Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and H.E. Hamid Karzai, the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, is supported by Pak-Afghan Graduates and its establishment is a step to promote people-to-people contacts and encourage academic activities both in Afghanistan and Pakistan and enhance interest of Afghan students to study in Pakistan and that of Pakistani students in Afghanistan that will cherish bilateral relations and help in sustainable friendly relationship between two countries that will play a positive role to bring people of both the countries closer.
