The head of US Central Command (CENTCOM) General Joseph Votel has appreciated Pakistan’s role for maintaining peace and stability in the region, along with its role in Afghan Peace talks. During his House Armed Services Committee briefing in the Senate, Votel said “We have had some success with Pakistan, they’ve been more helpful in terms of bringing the Taliban to the [peace negotiating] table. As we have requested [from] them, we have seen instances where they have taken action against the safe haven areas”.
