Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Relief and Rehabilitation Iqbal Wazir inaugurated Pak-Afghan transit trade at Ghulam Khan Border in North Waziristan on April 7, 2021.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by KP Minister for Transport Malik Shah Mohammad, DC Shahid Ali Khan, DPO Shaifullah Gandapur, military officials, tribal elders and traders of Pakistan and Afghanistan. Moreover, two vehicles of transit traders were dispatched for Kabul from Ghulam Khan Border.
While addressing the ceremony, Iqbal Wazir said that opening of the border would stimulate trade to central Asian states through Ghulam Khan Border point. He further added that it would lead the way for a new era of prosperity and development in the region along with providing job opportunities to the local youth. Deputy Commissioner Waziristan, Shahid Ali Khan confirmed that the project would provide jobs to approximately 20,000 local people.
The step is of huge significance, as the strengthening of trade and economic ties between the two countries will not only enhance bilateral relations between the two neighbors, but will also assist in aiding their economies.
