On March 22, 2021, 35 Afghan students arrived at Islamabad airport, under the Allama Iqbal Scholarships for Afghan students offered by Pakistan Government every year. They will study at Khyber Medical University Peshawar on fully funded scholarships exclusively for Afghan students. Under the Allama Iqbal Scholarships Scheme, Pakistan extends 1000 scholarships for higher education to Afghan students every year.

This good gesture between Afghanistan and Pakistan is extremely significant as students are an essential asset to any nation, the step will act as a great legacy for the generations to come and shows that Pakistan is ready to lend all kinds of support until peace and prosperity is restored in Afghanistan. Education is extremely important for the rebuilding of Afghanistan and Pakistan’s efforts to promote higher education is a step in the right direction, which will definitely help in further developing and strengthening relationship between the two brotherly neighbors.
