President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has instructed the national defense and security forces to concentrate on suppressing the militants until peace talks formally begins with Taliban.

The ARG Palace in a statement said Ghani issued the latest instructions while visiting the newly-established Command and Control Center of the Afghan Air Force.

Ghani further added that lasting peace, stability and security will return to Afghanistan due to the bravery and sacrifices of the armed forces.

This comes as efforts are underway to find a political solution to end the ongoing violence in Afghanistan.

The U.S. and Taliban representatives are busy negotiating a peace deal in the Qatari capital of Doha.

The U.S. envoy for Afghan peace Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad said Saturday that the Taliban group has signaled that they are willing to a conclude an agreement.

Counter-terrorism assurances, ceasefire and intra-Afghan negotiations are among the key topics of the negotiations between the U.S. and Taliban representatives.
