PESHAWAR: Pakistan has decided to reappoint Ambassador Mohammad Sadiq as its special representative to Afghanistan, Dawn has learnt.

Though no official announcement has been made in this regard, the appointment was confirmed by a source privy to the development.

The appointment comes amid reports that the Afghan Taliban have begun relocating members of the banned TTP and their families away from the border in Ghazni, their new abode to ease tensions with Pakistan.

The veteran diplomat, widely thought to be pragmatic and knowledgeable, had previously stepped down from the same post in 2023, saying that he wanted to focus on personal pursuits.
